REPLICA OF WINGS OF PEACE
Beautiful, emancipated, pure and free: the nation, invested with a halo of queen and beautiful wings open, ready to fly. In her hands she holds a baby innocent and playful, eager for new experiences. The symbol of the feel of a whole country, stretching out his arms toward the sky and opens its small wings, with the hope of being able to fly in aires full of peace. This is what we will see in the sculpture "Wings of Peace", beautiful work of the Colombian artist Luis Guillermo Vallejo Vargas, created in 2016.
Historically, Colombia has been mired in an internal war for more than 50 years, don-political struggles have given rise to countless events that have marked the history of this Latin American country. The majority of Colombians did not know their country without guerrillas, paramilitaries, without conflict.
As a starting point you can set "The bogo-tazo" of 1948, popular revolt that began in the Colombian capital after the assassination of liberal political leader Jorge Eliécer Gaitán, and spread to other regions, generating three days of great destruction and hundreds of deaths. From there, different organizations have emerged: FARC, ELN and M-19, are just a few of the armed groups, flying with a struggle for social inequality, have sown terror and chaos for years.
